V-Day Getaway – Nashville!

Baby sister at Vandy!

Baby sister at Vandy!

Baby sister is the in midst of interviewing for PhD programs in Developmental Psychology (she’s a smart cookie), and when we found out she’d be down in Music City for Valentine’s Day weekend interviewing at Vanderbilt, we decided to tag along for Valentine’s Day in Nashville. .

So we packed up Saturday morning and hit the road – I don’t know about you guys, but I love car time with my husband! It’s a great chance for us to really talk with no screens to distract us.

We met up with the family Saturday afternoon for some campus site-seeing and lunch near Campus.

Then we hit the honky-tonks on Broadway, which I must admit aren’t QUITE as much fun whist limited to non-alcoholic beer, but still pretty great times!

Then Saturday night Aaron surprised me with reservations for two at a romantic little place called Margot Café.

It was delicious! Their menu changes daily, but I thoroughly enjoyed my wild mushroom Risotto with black truffle shavings, and Aaron had a flounder stuffed with crab meat on a bed of lemon spinach.

After dinner we met back up with the family to enjoy a little night cap in our hotel.

Sunday morning, despite the bitter cold, we  headed back down to Broadway for a Country/Gospel at my Dad’s favorite Honky-tonk called Roberts. A good time was had by all!

Side note: what is about being in Nashville that convinces me I NEED brightly colored cowboy boots?

How did you guys spend the holiday?
